The Cliff, a luxury resort located on Jamaica’s West End, today announced a significant expansion as part of its ongoing renovation with the acquisition of the neighboring waterfront property formerly known as Idle Awhile, a neighboring boutique hotel featuring seven villas and suites. The purchase price was undisclosed.
The third waterfront property acquired by The Cliff’s ownership group since 2025, the expansion represents an important milestone in the resort’s evolution, expanding its footprint along Negril’s famous coastline and creating new opportunities to enhance its accommodations, amenities, programming and guest experiences. Previously owned by the Issa family, pioneers in Jamacia’s hospitality industry, the intimate boutique hotel has long been known for its relaxed island charm and secluded setting, making it a nature addition to The Cliff.
“This purchase is a significant investment in the future of The Cliff,” said The Cliff Hotel Managing Director George Fisette. “Our vision is to introduce additional accommodations, gardens, and space for wellness experiences while maintaining exceptionally low density, creating greater privacy and giving our guests even more space for our guests to enjoy the beautiful and unhurried pace of Negril.”
For the upcoming winter season, the property will operate independency as Orchid Point Bungalows while plans for its addition into The Cliff are finalized. The resort’s broader expansion vision calls for 60 guestrooms and villas across eight acres, maintaining an intentionally low-density approach to development with expansive gardens, lush landscaping and open spaces. Plans also include a new 7,000-square-foot wellness center envisioned as a centerpiece of the expanded resort experience.
