A series of moments when things take on an unexpected quality by our long-time friend, photographer Jennilee Marigomen. Jennilee Marigomen’s work often concerns everyday phenomena and the tensions between natural and urban spaces. Her latest collection of work attends to subtle shifts in expectation and perception:
“A form beneath a sheet, a figure enveloped in water, a curtain caught between opening and closing. Through layers of fabric, plastic, water, glass and fog, these photographs explore fleeting arrangements in which forms soften, colours blur, and familiar things approach abstraction. The work finds its subject in the scene itself.”
Some of these images will be on display at Spur Projects’ exhibition, “Sounds Like a Whisper”, in Vancouver (1277 East Pender Street) October 30 – November 1. Curated by Sarah Delaney.
