Hong Kong smartphone maker Tecno has unveiled the winners of its third annual “Shot On CAMON” global photography contest. This year’s edition, co-hosted with Lonely Planet, received over 13,000 entries from 40 countries.
The theme of this year’s photo contest is “Seeing is Believing,” and it was open to any photographers using Tecno Camon series smartphones. Tecno most recently made headlines on PetaPixel for its Slim 5G smartphone, which borrows aesthetics and visuals from famous artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, and Henri Matisse.
Mobile photographers entered across five categories, competing for a total prize pool of $38,000. The top honor goes to Nigerian photographer @dominic_films, whose photo, Weightless Voyager, earned him the title “TECNO Photography Master.” Dominic got $8,000 for the victory.

Alongside the overall winner, there are also top three finishers across five categories, four of which are traditional photo categories. The fifth, not in this article, focuses on AI-generated images.
Another Nigerian photographer, @_shotbykene, took the Gold Prize in the Faces • Unfiltered: Stories Behind the Faces portrait category. Filipino photographer @dzxl_mxjid took second place, while Indonesian photographer @7ustalvin rounded out the top three.
Filipino photographer @mlpadecio won the Culture • Unscripted: Traditions in Motion category. This category focuses on celebrating local traditions, community celebrations, and craftsmanship. Photographers @kolkatarchobiwala_ and @reuflores finished second and third, respectively.
Nigerian photographer @amazing_haywhyclicks_ earned the top prize in the Night • Unveiled” After the Light Fades category. This category celebrates low-light photography, which is a key focus for Tecno and other smartphone manufacturers these days. @tanvirahmed_1415 from Bangladesh won silver, and @miinkooo_mobile of Malaysia took third.
Rounding out the photo-specific categories is Snapshot • Unspotted: The Moments in Between. This category celebrates “fleeting actions and unexpected encounters,” which Tecno says reflects its Camon smartphones’ ability to capture fast-moving subjects. Indonesian photographer @30secondtothemoon won the category with a striking skateboard shot. @aungkyawzaw.ig and @baganphoto rounded out the top three.
“We were consistently impressed with the creativity and quality of the images submitted for the Shot On CAMON contest. Much of travel photography isn’t just a straightforward shot of a destination, but capturing a real mood and feeling of a place and people in a destination. The winning photographers brought real inspiration, feeling and a lightness to their photography that is impressive for any photographer,” says Lonely Planet.
“Our goal is to make imaging technology work for people’s creativity, giving them the freedom to capture moments and bring their ideas to life,” adds Zhang Liankai, Tecno Imaging Expert.
