“I just can’t wrap my head around it.” 1-2 Special has revealed the first teaser trailer for the indie sensation titled Everytime, a distinct film about grief made in Germany by director Sandra Wollner. It’s actually Wollner’s third feature film so far, but her biggest yet as many critics are putting it on their Top 10 of the year. Everytime first premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival & won the Un Certain Regard prize there. A tragedy brings a mother, daughter, and teenage boy together. Struggling with blame and forgiveness, the unlikely trio take a trip to Tenerife (in the Canary Islands) for a family holiday that never happened. Under the glow of the sun, past & present quietly start to overlap. Starring Birgit Minichmayr, Tristán López, Lotte Shirin Keiling, Carla Hüttermann. The film is a whole new vision of grief, after a young girl dies in Berlin the family struggles but the film isn’t about that – featuring vivid imagery as they each deal with it in their own ways. I wrote in my review from Cannes: “This here is real, profound, bold cinema. It left me totally shaken, boasting a handful of entirely unforgettable shots.” A must see whenever it screens near you.
