U.S. cosmetics brand Caliray has announced the appointment of William Smolen to the role of chief executive officer.
Smolen joins the clean Californian beauty brand founded in 2021 by Urban Decay Cosmetics co-founder Wende Zomnir, after executive stints at L’Occitane Group and Make Beauty.
Smolen will be tasked with leading the independent’s beauty brand growth strategy across the U.S. and beyond.
“Excited to share that I’ve joined Caliray as CEO, partnering with the indomitable Wende Zomnir, founder of Urban Decay, to lead the brand through its next phase of growth,” said Smolen, via a post on his LinkedIn profile.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to brands built on truly innovative products that solve real consumer needs. That commitment to product innovation, authentic brand building, and meaningful consumer connection is what attracted me to Caliray. We have an exceptional team, a strong foundation, and an exciting opportunity ahead to amplify awareness, deepen engagement, and introduce even more people to this incredible brand. I’m energized by what we’re building and look forward to sharing more along the way.”
The Southern California brand is currently stocked across Sephora U.S. nationwide, as well as inside Sephora at Kohl’s locations.
