The Champion athletic apparel brand and music platform Defected have linked up on a collab that comes with the House of Champions campaign, “spotlighting the next generation of [house music] talent. Five house champions. One house community”.
Celebrating diverse voices, self-expression as a force for progress, and fostering communities, whether through fashion or music, Champion and Defected are launching a range, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, plus a limited-edition collaborative DJ record trolley in partnership with UDG.
All items will be available on Champion and Defected’s online stores from 6 July and after the merchandise becomes available online, a launch party is set for 16 July at the Champion store in Soho, London.
The range ties in with Defected and Champion’s campaign for the athletic brand’s House of Champions series, “spotlighting the next generation of house music champions”.
Five champions of the scene have been selected, with an aim to “recognise budding talent and celebrate the creatives that form the backbone of the community”.
They include curators and creators Millie & Phoebe, founders of community-led channel In The Loop; Ellie Scougall, a DJ and producer from Newcastle who’s also a talented music A&R, championing the rising house sounds of today; Mr James, a music producer and selector specialising in “sound healing” and the expansive sounds of reggae, soca, soul, house and disco; Andrew, a dancer, DJ, club aficionado and nightlife expert who founded events brand A Hard Day’s Dance; and Maria Hanlon, a radio presenter, broadcaster and the host of The Voices Breakfast Show on Voices.
Defected and Champion “will recognise these grassroots pioneers with to-camera content and social media spotlights to align with the merchandise”.
