The jewellery house Chaumet, part of the world’s leading luxury group LVMH, has completed ahead of schedule its acquisition of the Italian jewellery manufacturer B.M.C., having purchased an initial stake in 2020. The deal had been due to be finalised in 2028, but the high‑jewellery maison within the French luxury giant has accelerated the timetable. FashionNetwork.com has learnt from a source within the group led by Bernard Arnault that several months ago Chaumet acquired 100% of B.M.C. S.p.A., the Valenza (AL)‑based company- located in one of Italy’s principal goldsmithing and jewellery‑making districts- in a move to consolidate its supply chain.
B.M.C. was founded in Valenza in 2001 by Carlo Massavelli and Maurizio Bozza. Today, the Piedmont-based company employs around 330 people, with an average age of 37, and operates two production facilities: its headquarters in Valenza and a production plant in Sesto Calende (VA).
According to the same source, B.M.C. recorded turnover of €65 million in 2025, an increase of €4 million on the previous year, much of it generated by its collaboration with the Parisian high‑jewellery maison, present in Place Vendôme since 1780 and acquired by the LVMH group from Investcorp in 1999. The Valenza-based company’s inventory, consisting mainly of precious metals, is valued at nearly €40 million.
The early strengthening of the partnership between Chaumet and B.M.C. also illustrates how closely France’s luxury titans are moving to secure their supply chains. Between late 2025 and early 2026, another Valenza-based jewellery manufacturer also passed into French hands. The Kering group, again with the aim of bolstering its jewellery and goldsmithing production capabilities, paid €115 million to secure a 20 per cent stake in Raselli Franco Group, one of Europe’s leading jewellery manufacturers, with the stated intention of acquiring the entire company by 2032.
In March this year, Kering created the new Kering Jewellery division, which comprises the Boucheron, Pomellato, DoDo and Qeelin brands, placing it under the supervision of Jean‑Marc Duplaix, chief operating officer of the group that owns Gucci.
