“In order to find you, you need to find yourself.” “Pfft, he’s right here.” 🐶 Sky TV & Vue have revealed the official UK trailer for the animated adventure comedy called Bollywoof, featuring a very British Springer Spaniel doggo who ends up lost in India. Yes this is one of those wacky animated movies meant for kids to watch while parents ignore it, but it might actually be better than it seems. Stranded in India thousands of miles from his family, the English Springer Spaniel Basil embarks on an epic journey, finding unforgettable friends as he makes his way home. A wild adventure, traveling by paw, by plane & rickshaw, there’s even time for the occasional Bollywood dance routine. David Jonsson leads the English language voice cast as Basil, with Kunal Nayyar, Academy Award winner Olivia Colman, Ambika Mod, Sanjeev Bhaskar, & Rhys Ifans. Bollywoof is an epic adventure celebrating friendship, connection, and the vitality of India – a funny, heart-warming, beautifully animated tale for the whole family. Out in the UK in January 2027, but no final US release date set yet. They’re borrowing that sketch-like style from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish which has become the norm. Cheesy but looks like fun.
Here’s the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Frederik Du Chau’s film Bollywoof, direct from YouTube:

Basil the springer spaniel is lost! Basil, a very British Springer Spaniel, is living his best doggy life with his favorite human, 11-year-old Luke Price, in the tranquil Yorkshire countryside. However, Basil’s idyllic existence is about to change forever as the Prices relocate halfway across the world to Mumbai for work. Accidentally loaded onto the wrong flight, Basil soon finds himself lost in Kolkata, over 1000 miles from Luke! Chased by a dog catcher, he teams up with Santosh, a Bollywood-obsessed Indian street dog, and a feisty holy cow called Uma. Together, this unlikely trio embark on an action-packed journey across India to find Basil’s family. Bollywoof is directed by Belgian animation filmmaker Frederik Du Chau, director of the animated movies Quest for Camelot, Racing Stripes, and Underdog previously, though hasn’t made anything since 2007. The screenplay is written by Stephen Leslie. Produced by Andrew Baker, Laurie Cook, Gregory Gavanski, Jason Newmark, Nisha Parti, Bob Thompson. Made by Sky and DNEG. Sky TV & Vue will release Du Chau’s Bollywoof movie in UK cinemas starting January 22nd, 2027 early next year. Curious?
