On his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel weighed in on the midterm election results as they were happening, celebrating landmark wins for Democrats in key battleground states.

On his ABC show, Kimmel celebrated a “blue tsunami” sweeping the US.
“One election model from Harvard said the chances of Republicans keeping the House tonight was as likely as rolling the number 20 on a 20-sided die,” said Kimmel.
“They could have said 5%,” he quipped, “but somebody at Harvard wanted to let us know they play Dungeons & Dragons.
“Nate Silver, Nate Cohn, Nate Dogg – all of the Nates were predicting a blue wave,” Kimmel added.
“It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s ass, Jon Husted’s ass, the only ass on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him by America.”
Trump was reportedly angry and cursing as the results came in as Democrats took control of Congress. “Word from inside the White House is he’s already run out of dipping sauce containers to throw at the television set,” joked Kimmel.
Last night’s results included rising Democratic star Jon Ossoff’s re-election to his Georgia Senate seat, Keisha Lance Bottoms becoming the first Black woman elected state governor and James Talarico winning the Senate race in Texas, breaking a 38-year drought for Democrats.
“That’s the good news,” said Kimmel. “The bad news is that Talarico might have to carpool with Ted Cruz starting in January.
“Man oh man, would I hate to be the DoorDash driver who delivers Trump his Papa Johns tonight.”
Earlier yesterday, Trump called in to Fox News and bragged about his popularity in Israel, claiming that he was at a 99% approval rating and suggesting that he could move to Israel and become prime minister if the US ever “got tired” of him.
“That might be the best idea he’s ever had,” said Kimmel.
“Trump’s approval rating here is terrible,” he said. “Just like every woman he’s ever slept with, voters are unsatisfied with the job he is doing.”
The host went on to detail the “insane priorities” that the Trump administration has been focusing on.
“Americans are worried about corruption, inflation, climate change, war, wealth disparity, healthcare, housing, measles and democracy itself,” Kimmel said.
“Now let’s take a look at the 10 subjects Maga seems to be worried about: transgender, testosterone, Black Helen of Troy, windmills, ballrooms, Mexicans, reflecting pools, racism against whites, Tylenol, Canada and Canada.”
The host added that “Democrats felt they needed to have a huge margin of victory to avoid Republicans claiming they tampered with the election, which is nuts in and of itself that this seems to be the case.”
The Trump administration sent 1,000 Department of Justice election monitors – “which are basically ICE agents in polo shirts” – to poll sites around the country. They were mainly stationed at voting places that had voted blue in 2024, with Markwayne Mullin saying that the move was to ensure that “no illegals voted”.
“Oh, good,” said Kimmel. “Gomer Pyle is going to make sure that the election was fair, using all 10 fingers and all nine toes.”
Kimmel saw the elections as a bellwether of the national mood. “As of tonight, Donald Trump is officially a lame duck and an orange chicken at the same time.”
