Clearly, fashion designer Jonathan Anderson loves art. During his tenure as creative director at Loewe, the Spanish brand was one of the main sponsors of Frieze London. Now, Anderson is changing things up, inviting Frieze Week visitors to his JW Anderson store on Pimlico Road for a special exhibition, “A Composition” running between October 15-21.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Platinum Card from American Express, the financial services company that provides premium travel and lifestyle benefits. For JW Anderson, White Cube-represented artist Cerith Wyn Evans has created 30 wind chimes specifically for the exhibition, which will be displayed alongside a selection of handpicked works.
JW Anderson and Amex are giving Amex platinum cardmembers the Frieze Week treatment, which kicks off on October 14 with VIP day. That same day, cardmembers will get a first look at “A Composition”, featuring works including ceramics by Akiko Hirai, paintings by Mary Stephenson and sculptures by Shawanda Corbett.
Platinum cardmembers will also receive a complimentary gift of a dark-roasted tea with any purchases, as well as an exclusive JW Anderson limited-edition work on card and bookmark package.
“We know how much our cardmembers value access to the worlds they’re passionate about, and our partnership with JW Anderson is another way we’re bringing that to life,” Suzanne Morel, senior vice president of international products and partnerships at American Express in a statement. “During Frieze London, we’re giving cardmembers unique opportunities to experience “A Composition” – whether it’s first access to the exhibition and exclusive tours, or dedicated events with Jonathan Anderson and his creative community.”
American Express will also host a panel discussion for its cardmembers with Anderson and Evans, moderated by art historian and broadcaster Dr. James Fox. That evening, a special reception will be held at the JW Anderson store for platinum cardmembers.
“JW Anderson shares our passion for creativity and connection, and we’re particularly excited to bring our Business Platinum community of entrepreneurs and small businesses together to meet, exchange ideas and be part of the creative conversation,” said Morel.
