“Can you face the improbability of your own survival? How hard would you fight to stay alive?” Lionsgate has revealed the first official trailer for Above the Below, the last major 2026 wide release that we haven’t seen a trailer for this year. Until now. The sci-fi survival thriller is about three astronauts returning to Earth – their futuristic spaceship (with some kind of AI entity) is forced off course during re-entry and they end up crash landing in the water. They struggle to survive after being cut off from contact as their capsule sinks into the ocean. Starring Idris Elba as Jackson, Caitlin FitzGerald as Brooks, Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Rhodes. From this tease my guess is that it’s going to be like Planet of the Apes and they discover they’re in the distant future where Earth is now completely covered with water thanks to climate change. But what happens next? This is an incredibly creative trailer with these many glimpses through this viewport frame. There’s so much more going on in this than expected! A must see trailer for sci-fi fans for sure. Take a look.
