“Allen did come halfway across the galaxy just to hang out with you!” “Uh, yeah he did.” Netflix revealed their funny official trailer for the Australia sci-fi comedy titled simply Allen, made by the filmmakers Daley Pearson & Jeffrey Walker. Very similar to that other wacky alien friend movie Paul with Simon Pegg & Nick Frost from 2011 but with a few of its own quirks. 20 years after his original encounter with an alien, Petey never moved on. Now his old friend has returned to Earth, and the reason why is kind of complicated — and unexpected. What is he up to on our planet this time? Allen stars T.J. Power, Charlotte Nicdao, Josh Helman, Emily Barclay, and Benedict Hardie. Petey’s childhood best friend, a little alien named Allen, vanished without any goodbye. Two decades later, Allen returns with a secret that could change the world, forcing Petey to finally grow up & help save it. This is made by Brisbane-based Ludo Studio, the same team behind Bluey and Thou Shalt Not Steal; Allen marks the studio’s first locally made live-action feature film for Netflix with filming across Queensland, including in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This looks like it has a big twist and gets dark – I’m very intrigued to watch & see what they’ve been cooking up with the project. 👽
Here’s the full trailer (+ posters) for Daley Pearson & Jeffrey Walker’s sci-fi comedy Allen, from YouTube:
Twenty years after Petey lost the best friend he ever had, Allen’s back… As a boy in Queensland, Petey had a childhood best friend he never got over: an alien named Allen, who vanished without a goodbye. Twenty years later he’s back, but be careful what you wish for. Allen has a secret big enough to change the world, and Petey will have to finally grow up to help save it. Allen is co-directed by filmmakers Daley Pearson (director on “The Strange Calls” & “Content” series making his first film) and Jeffrey Walker (director of Dance Academy: The Movie, Ali’s Wedding, Riot, The Portable Door, Fing!). The screenplay is written by Daley Pearson, along with Sophie Miller. Produced by Ross Allsop, Sophie Miller, Sam Moor. Made by Ludo Studio (same Australian production company behind Bluey). Netflix debuts Pearson & Walker’s Allen movie streaming on Netflix globally starting November 12th, 2026 coming soon. Look like fun? Want to watch?
