Volotea, the airline connecting small and mid-sized European cities, was recognized as “Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline” for the fifth time at the 33rd edition of the World Travel Awards. The ceremony took place on Saturday, October 17th, in Kotor, Montenegro, bringing together leading figures from the international travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. Gilles Gosselin, Volotea’s Director of France, collected the award on the airline’s behalf.
The World Travel Awards are among the most prestigious awards in the international tourism industry, recognizing organizations that stand out across different areas of the sector. Winners are selected through an online voting process involving tourism professionals, including travel agencies, tour operators and international organizations, as well as the general public.
Volotea previously received the title in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025. The fifth win underscores the airline’s continued focus on service quality and its model of providing direct, competitively priced connections between Europe’s medium-sized cities.
“Being named “Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline” for the fifth time fills us with pride, especially at a time like this. Despite the current challenges arising from an unstable geopolitical situation, Volotea continues to offer its passengers a very solid and reliable service, and this has remained the case throughout the current restructuring, with operations running normally. This award reflects the close coordination across Volotea’s teams, who work every day to make flying with us a simple, welcoming and satisfying experience. It also recognizes the continued trust our passengers place in us and motivates us to keep improving,” said Alex de Jesús, Chief Experience Officer of Volotea.
Volotea also ranked sixth worldwide in the “World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines” category and fourth in Europe in “Best Low-Cost Airlines in Europe” at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The awards, considered among the airline industry’s most respected accolades, are based on a global passenger satisfaction survey in which travelers rate more than 300 airlines.
Passenger trust at the heart of the Volotea experience
Across its network, through September 2026, Volotea recorded a Net Promoter Score (NPS)1 of 43, rising to 53 among members of the airline’s Megavolotea program. With this in mind, the airline aims to close out 2026 having moved closer to its ambitious target of a network-wide NPS of 50 points.
Furthermore, the airline has a strong recommendation rate, with nine out of ten passengers saying they would recommend Volotea to family and friends, reflecting the confidence they place in the airline and the experience it offers.
