Dillard’s announced on Thursday a 3 percent uptick in net sales for the first quarter, with all merchandise categories logging sales increases.
The Little Rock, Arkansas-based company said retail sales for the three months ending May 2 rose 3 percent, while sales in comparable stores for the same period also increased 3 percent.
By category, sales saw strong growth in home and furniture, women’s accessories, lingerie and footwear. Men’s and children’s apparel, along with women’s ready-to-wear and junior categories, recorded moderate increases, while cosmetics posted only a slight rise over the quarter.
Net income for the 13-week period increased to $250.6 million, or $16.04 per share, compared to $163.8 million, or $10.39 per share in the prior-year.
The company currently operates 272 Dillard’s stores, including 28 clearance centers, spanning 30 states, as well as its online store.
Last month, Dillard’s launched an exclusive, limited-edition capsule collection with renowned designer and tastemaker, Cydney Morris.
