“Arise to the Humbugs, it’s time for something new” The Muppets are back… again! This time as part of a holiday shopping promo. Walmart has debuted the first of their 2026 Christmas commercials titled A Who Knew Carol. The whole concept is basically a remake of holiday classic The Muppet Christmas Carol from 1992 (featuring the same songs) but with Walmart added into it. Of course. It’s sad and depressing that they’re taking advantage of nostalgia to bait people into spending money when Walmart is really one of the real Scrooges of our world. In this ad, the cast Walton Goggins as Ebenezer Scrooge. The entire Muppet brigade is back, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo & Rizzo, even characters that were never in that original movie. More videos are coming up following Goggins’ Scrooge through his A Christmas Carol story encountering the Ghost of Christmas Presents, the Ghost of Deals to Come, and the Ghost of Christmas Fast. View below.

Description via shots: “Marking only the first in a series of films, with Scrooge set to encounter the Ghost of Christmas Presents 🎁, the Ghost of Deals to Come, and the Ghost of Christmas Fast, alongside Spanish-language spots featuring Stephanie Beatriz as Scrooge’s niece, this seasonal treat is no humbug.” The brief intro from YouTube: “Old pals. New Scrooge. Gifts worth caroling about. Who knew?” A Who Knew Carol is a holiday creation promoting Walmart created by Dept W and Pub W, Publicis Groupe’s dedicated Walmart ad agency teams. The ad campaign is directed by Radical Media director Randall Einhorn. Featuring the song “Scrooge”, written by Paul Williams, from the original Christmas comedy The Muppet Christmas Carol released in 1992. There will be even more videos with The Muppets + this Scrooge released throughout the 2026 holidays. The original movie also has a secret extended version available to watch on Disney+ anytime.
